Watch!

Watch!

Mark 13:34  NIV

It’s like a man going away; He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

You see we all have a task in the kingdom; it’s not just the Pastor or evangelist etc., but each one of us.  And He puts us in charge while He is away to rule and have dominion of His kingdom. Ask the Lord what He would have you to do.  Seek out your gift.

Mark 13:35-37  NIV

“Therefore, keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.  If he comes suddenly do not let him find you sleeping.  What I say to you, I say to everyone. ‘Watch!’”

We must not grow weary in well doing and become complacent, but we must be alert and always be looking for His return.   We do not know the day or the hour, but we must be on guard and keep watch!

Wisdom Bestows Well-Being

Wisdom Bestows Well-Being

Proverbs 3:1-2 NIV

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.

Proverbs 3  gives us a blueprint or a guide for being blessed.  It goes on to talk about Wisdom and all the benefits of gaining it.  But we need to know the Lord’s commands first before we can obey them. So besides hearing the Word preached we also need to be reading His Word ourselves so that we can walk in His ways and obey His teachings and then we can expect His blessings in our life.

Hebrews 10:25

Not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction] as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another: and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.

I think that scripture is clear about coming together or going to Church.  So many Christians think they no longer need to physically go to church but the Word instructs us to do so and even more so as Christ’s return is approaching.  And friend, we are a lot closer today than when that was written.  It is not only for us to receive God’s Word through the sermon and worship but so that we can be a blessing to others and encourage.    The Bible is clear on this and we need to listen and obey.  Find a church and be a blessing to someone.  I know as Pastors we are encouraged when people show up.  If you cannot love God’s people, how are you going to spend eternity with them in heaven?  It is not enough to sit home and just listen online or on TV.  If we are physically able, we are to go and assemble ourselves together.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Romans 1:16 NIV

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Recently I was visiting my 3 granddaughters and one of them had to write a short story and she wrote on the book of Ecclesiastes because she has decided to read the entire Bible this year and started in Ecclesiastes.  Mind you she is only 7 years old.  But she wrote down a few things she learned from Ecclesiastes and shared them with her class. What a profound opportunity to share the gospel in a secular school.  I was amazed at the things she shared, and I thought to myself wow, out of the mouths of babes (Psalm 8:2) that teacher and her schoolmates were hearing the Word of God.   We should all be that bold and unashamed to share the gospel to others. I know it emboldened me, I hope it does you as well.  God Bless!

Seek First the Kingdom of God

Seek First the Kingdom of God

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

I remember when I was in my late teens thinking how I would like to meet the right person and get married and have a family.  I would pray about it, and the Lord would always bring this scripture to mind.  We even sang the scripture chorus back then and He reminded me to seek Him first and He would give me the desires of my heart, and so I did.  I would go to church and I prayed and sought Him first while occupying and in the right time He brought Jeff into my life.  But it was only through thoughtful prayer and through seeking the things of God first.  There were many lonely nights where I didn’t go out and do the other things other girls and teenagers my age would typically do.  I didn’t go to worldy parties or concerts but instead I went to things Christians do, like going to Church and youth events, Christian concerts etc.  I see so many people looking for love in all the wrong places as the old worldy song says.  That is just an example but whatever you desire remember to seek God first and His kingdom and all these things will be added to you.

Train Up a Child

Train Up a Child

Recently our youngest granddaughter Lily was potty trained and while sitting on the little potty recently she told her mom “Mom let’s pray” and she started praying.  Not only was this hilarious and cute to all of us but it just shows you how much they pick up.  You see the Word tells us in Proverbs 22:6 to train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it. We train them not only in everyday matters, but our children listen and catch everything we say and do.

The Sexually Immoral and the Kingdom of God

The Sexually Immoral and the Kingdom of God

1 Corinthians 6:9

Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived:  Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.

I feel I must address this today as it has become epidemic in our society.  How much plainer can God get?  Yet I see so many people living together before marriage and so forth not only outside the church but inside calling themselves “Christians”.  Friends, God does not change nor does his Word.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)   The term ‘sexually immoral’ encompasses all forms of sexual behavior outside the bounds of biblical marriage.  If you are in such a relationship stop now!  Repent and turn away from it and He will forgive you, but you cannot continue to live in such behavior and expect to inherit eternal life.  Genesis 4:7 says “if you do what is right, will you not be accepted?  But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.  (James 4:7).

You are loved by God!

Recently we lost our beloved dog Scarlett who we had for 14 years.  I was so upset about her passing and the only way I could receive comfort was in knowing that in Matthew 10:29 it tells us that God even sees the sparrow fall so I knew that He cared about Scarlett.  Then I started thinking how much He cares for us as well,  enough that His Word also tells us He numbers the hairs of our head!  Matthew 10: 30 and Luke 12:7  That is just amazing!  What a loving and mighty God we serve!  So the next time you think He is not aware of you or your situation you may be going through read these scriptures and know how precious you are to Him.  So precious that He sent His one and only son Jesus to die for you!  John 3:16
